Founder and President of The Need to Read
Lori Herrick has spent over 22 years transforming the lives of struggling readers. With a Master’s in Education and Counseling, a K-12 Intervention Specialist license, and a Reading Endorsement, she blends deep expertise with unwavering compassion.
Over time, Lori refined her methods, combining proven strategies with her own innovations, and trained under Bill Stevenson, deepening her ability to help students others had deemed “unreachable.” She has worked with learners of all ages, adapting her approach to meet each student’s unique needs.
Today, Lori channels her expertise and passion into The Need To Read, a nonprofit dedicated to helping struggling readers and raising awareness about illiteracy. Through this work, she brings new life to the Stevenson Reading Program, builds a community of dedicated educators and parents, and inspires students to achieve reading success.
